Leadership functions in organizations' change processes differ from normal leadership characteristics. Beyond daily organizational processes, the transformational leader collects behavior and features, such as idealized influence, mental motivation, intellectual stimulation, and individual support.
Depending on the previous paragraph, the concepts of Idealized Impact, Mental Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, Individual Support come to the fore in relation to the transformational leader. The idealized effect involves creating a vision and mission setting behavior in the followers of the leader. It can be said that the effect, characteristics and behaviors of the leader are idealized by his followers. Their followers or subordinates who idealize the behavior of the leader are proud to work with the leader, they may tend to outweigh the interests of the group for their own benefit. In mental motivation, the leader creates a source of morale for the audience. It creates a strong sense of common purpose using symbols, slogans and simple emotional elements. It provides a group consciousness around common goals in the leader group. Transformational leader in intellectual stimulation encourages subordinates to question the current way of doing things, operations, actions, their own thoughts and values, the values that direct the thinking of the institution and the id. Thus, the leader frees the organization's transformational capacity from being idle, by making it active. In individual support, the leader takes into account the individual needs of subordinates and strives to meet the higher up needs of subordinates rather than their basic needs. Task distribution is done in a way to create opportunities and learning to subordinates. He advises his followers to improve himself and gives time for them to learn. At the same time, the leader teaches his followers how to
determine the needs and abilities of others, while taking into account their individual differences, needs and abilities.
Possible Outcomes of Transformational Leadership During Change Processes
Throughout the process of change in an organization, the Transformational Leader encourages innovation and creativity in the workplace by creating an enthusiastic and challenging work environment. This type of leadership offers individuals broad opportunities for their personal development. This personal development process can reveal new leaders within the organization from a few of the leader's subordinates.
Since the Transformational Leader is also a visionary, they have an extraordinary ability to convey this vision to the followers. Transformational leader in change processes ensures that his followers work in line with this vision by defining a new vision or developing an existing vision. This helps team members work to achieve a common goal or vision, influenced by their leaders or inspire them, thereby improving excellence in the workplace.
Transformational leadership promotes the mentor relationship between the leader and follower, thus creating a favorable environment for innovation and improving organizational preparation for any change process.
The Transformational Leader brings reforms in current processes, creates higher expectations for its followers, and motivates followers to go beyond pre-determined expectations or the established framework. It also guarantees the high performance of the tools, superior productivity and growth.
